Podere Albiano

Living in one of the most beautiful places on earth, owners and winemakers Anna and Alberto have developed a special bond with the land of Val d’Orcia. They hold a deep debt of gratitude and respect for the land and have grown to understand that they can only honor this debt by favoring the land’s gifts of nature. Their role is to help the ground to grow and ripen its fruits. These fruits will then thrive and turn into the product that tells its story through taste and aroma, releasing the same power and joy which enthralled Anna and Alberto when they first arrived here.

Podere Albiano as we know it today was created in 2002. On four hectares (about 10 acres) of land, the microclimate in the Val d’Orcia, combined with a mixture of sand and clay soil, are excellent ingredients for the growth of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot grapes. The entire estate is powered by a geothermal energy plant, which has reduced their Co2 emissions to close to zero. This is consistent with their philosophy of respecting nature and the environment and promoting sustainable resources.

“The earth and the plants express their talents. We add devotion and skill.” -Anna, Winemaker
