Fragolino Liquore | Strawberry Liqueur

Fragolino Liquore, Strawberry Liqueur, is a strawberry-infused digestivo, digestive drink, made by steeping ripe strawberries in grain alcohol for at least a month. The infusion is then mixed with simple syrup and then bottled. I make a large batch so I can give away pretty bottles of this crimson-hued Italian Moonshine for gifts.

2 pounds Strawberries, hulled

4 cups of Grain Alcohol, I use Everclear

5 cups Water

2 cups Granulated Sugar, or sugar replacement, although the finished product will be cloudy


To make the Fragolino: In a large saucepan, combine the water and the sugar over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. The syrup will be clear when it is ready. Remove from the heat and let cool completely. In the meantime, strain the strawberry infusion into a large pot. Once the syrup is cool, pour it into the pot and mix with a spoon until the two liquids become one. Using a funnel, carefully transfer the Fragolino into bottles; I use the empty Everclear bottles. Store it in the freezer. Serve chilled.
